19 of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been won on hard courts

A resurgent Medvedev won his maiden title for over two years with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament final.

The Russian, a former world number one, has had a difficult season, winning just one match at the big events and undergoing a setback at the American major.

The player's varied form on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serve in particular - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and finally splitting with former trainer his previous coach.

Presently collaborating with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily advanced in the last few weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought competitive win over challenger Corentin Moutet.

It is Medvedev's maiden trophy since the Rome competition and initial on a hard surface from that period of that year.

Victory also signifies the Russian has secured twenty-one titles at twenty-one different events.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a event with my two daughters together, so to win a title is especially meaningful," stated ranked player the champion.

"This title is in dedication of my child my daughter, because the initial championship I achieved when my child my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had been defeated in his last six title deciders, including in the German tournament in the past months.

His retrieving approach and recurring reactions on the tennis court had led commentators to question if his ability to play at the top level was concluded.

Yet the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the past month, making an effort to advance forward and compete positively, backed up by an better serving game.

The champion fought back from a break down in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, taking 4 of the last five games to take the lead.

Both players swapped service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his maiden tour title, gained dominance to create a third set.

The opponent defended four early break points in a tight third set before the champion secured a break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Suitably, Medvedev secured the win with a shot at the net area, with Moutet unable to handle a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
